1st Grade Warm and Cool Colors

Wow! I was so impressed with the work these 1st graders did! We spent some time talking about warm and cool colors and what they reminded us of. One girl told the class "My picture reminds me of Red Lobster!" We used crayon and watercolor for the background. If a student used a cool background, they used cool colors for the cylinders on their paper. If they used a warm background, they stuck to warm colors for the cylinders. We took a whole class period to make cylinders, holding each for ten seconds, then dipping the bottom in glue and sticking it to the paper. They entire class created such a beautiful mix of warm and cool colors!
