Kindergarten and Alma Thomas

Wow! My award for "Most Messy Classroom Followed by Most Impressive Clean-Up" goes to KINDERGARTEN!

It was like New Years Eve confetti in my room with all the torn paper we used for this project. The kindergartners started this project by looking at Alma Thomas's work and discussing the shapes and colors in her art. Then we drew white lines on black paper as a map for where our torn paper would go. We glued and tore up paper and glued, and tore and glued and those kindergartners tore it up! These turned out just perfect.

Frank Stella Collages

3rd Grade Mixed Media

We looked at Frank Stella's work and talked about positive and negative space in pictures. Then, we used different media to create interesting colors and designs on our papers. We then cut out different sized organic shapes and arranged them to create our composition. Nice work!

Birthday Cupcakes in Kindergarten!

We used everything we've learned this year to put together these fantastic cupcakes! the bottom of the cupcake was a square.. a GEOMETRIC shape! the top of the cupcake was shaped like a cloud.. an ORGANIC shape! We used straight thick lines for our candles. Guess what three colors each class used? PRIMARY COLORS! Great results, Kindergarten!!
